Writing for Screen Workshop • Acting for Screen • Shooting for Screen • Editing Intensive
What is CampEVP?
Open to students ages 9-15.
Registration is limited to 20 students per session.
Writing for Screen Workshop (2 days)
Students decide what type of project they will complete. Selection can be a short film, public service announcement, TV show pilot, sketch comedy or promotional video.
Emphasis will be on the difference between writing for print and writing for screen, how to write for low budget projects, giving clear instructions to the production crew, and creating a story arch that catches attention.
Final script(s) will be used for future camps.
Acting for Screen (1 week)
Explore the different nuances of acting on camera. We will work on auditioning skills, including cold reads, developing a character, following direction, blocking for camera, ad-libbing and basic production vocabulary.
We will also explore ways to get more experience in this field and what you need to do if this is something you’d like to explore further. Actors from this week will be cast in the production for week 3 of this series for an additional fee TBD for the week (they may not be needed each day and they will not be able to have hands on experience in the production end if they are cast in a role).
Shooting for Screen (2 days)
Students will select one script to produce during this week long shooting intensive. Students will have hands-on experience with DSLR cameras, lighting, audio, studio backgrounds and various stabilization devices.
Editing Intensive (2 days)
Students will work with the EVP editing team to learn all aspects of editing the project. Using the video shot during week 3, students will sit down with the line editor to lay out the pieces and start to tell the story.
Once that is complete, students will select graphics and music and learn advanced techniques such as color correction, audio sweetening and more.
Winter Break Workshop - Video In A Day
December 28th, 2016
This 5-hour session starts off with 90-minutes of acting games, audition prep and cold reads. Then actors and crew are selected during a working lunch and the next 2-3 hours will be spent shooting the video. We will be using the script written by one of our Summer 2016 Interns "Rock, Paper, Scissors."
If time allows, students will review the footage and begin editing! Editing will be completed by the EVP Crew and put online for all students to see within a week of the workshop. Cost for this session is $50 for the first child. Sibling discount available.
