Internet Marketing….Larry Style
Larry Bailin, founder & CEO of Single Throw, presented an excellent seminar for my networking group NJ Event Pro Net this morning. His book “Mommy, Where Do Customers Come From?”, coming out this November, inspired this innovative & entertaining presentation. Everyone in attendance was wowed & inspired by the internet marketing ideas & tips that Larry gave us. For one, Larry stressed the importance of making your site easy to navigate. People often mistake being creative for creating a great site. Your site can be beautiful, creative, edgy and all the other adjectives you want to use to describe it, but if a client can’t find your contact info, then what is the point?
Larry also talked about new technologies – including user generated content. By allowing visitors to interact with your site, you are giving them more reasons to stay there & to keep coming back. We will be working with Larry to help promote his upcoming book “Mommy, Where Do Customers Come From?”. The marketing strategy will include interactive video content where the users will help create some of the upcoming marketing videos. This innovative concept will keep clients & potential clients connected with the site through a campaign that encourages them to visit often. Keep an eye on this blog for more details as the project unfolds!

As someone who does both video production and internet marketing, I love the concept from a video production standpoint, but I’m not sure about it for internet marketing. On one hand, discussion forums and such are as strong as they are because they both provide a resource for viewers but also create content for one’s site that may help at getting better listings in the search engines. On the other hand, although the video won’t have the same kind of search engine friendly content, the buzz created by the concept and the value of the experience on clients’ perceptions of the company should be quite effective. I’ll be interested to follow along and see how it turns out. Michael – Digital Eye Print/Web Design, 3D Animation & Video Production Studio
Hi Michael,
Thank you for your comments! I have been experimenting with the searchability (is that a word?) of video. If you do a search for “Beauty Ball, NJ”, you will find most of the results on the first page are videos I have posted on various video sharing sites. All of these sites are great in the search engines and use tags to help you find the relevant videos. I’m still experimenting with tags, trying to determine which ones work best for different videos, but I think there are some great ways to use video to bring you up in the rankings. And, like you said, we’re also going for the ‘buzz’ when using video. Keep an eye on this blog – I’m going to be posting some interesting content on viral video marketing soon.
Thanks!
Darcie

Interesting post! Internet marketing is growing slowly in the IT industry but there is a good scope in it. Good luck to this new field.
As the credit crunch continues to bite, online video marketing is definitely the way forward to both small and large business. The case for video production as an effective marketing tool really couldn’t be stronger
What an excellent blog, I’ve added your feed to my RSS reader.
This sounds like some interesting concepts to me. I’ve tried to get very involved lately with internet marketing and simply the promotion of a newer company I’m now working for. It’s very tough, but the one thing we feel is important is definitely having a website that is easy to navigate through. Also flash is great and all, but I prefer basic html with that sweet, simple, and to the point type of website navugation.
Thanks for the comment Ryan. I find Flash works best as a video player, but I am not impressed by websites w/ flash animation. I’m with you & prefer basic HTML…besides the fact that it’s better for search engines.
For a new company, I cannot stress enough the strong impact of video. You can create a video to post on video sharing sites that can bring people to your site that wouldn’t have otherwise found it. It can also help explain the new company to people that are unfamiliar with what you do & what makes you different. If you’d like to talk more, email me darcie at evideoproductions.net. You don’t have to use my services – I just love to talk about the impact of video & offer suggestions on how to use it!
Great post.. One comment about using flash. I have been attracting lots of iphone users that can’t see my videos because of flash not being supported for iphones or ipads. Just something to keep in mind.
Great point! We’ve recently gotten the iPhone & have realized the problem too. We’re still trying to figure out what we’re going to do about that. If you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them! Thanks!
